Flintoff might miss next season of IPL due to Knee injury
http://www.mid-day.com/
Former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff who was forced to retire from the International cricket due to knee injury is likely to miss the next season of IPL scheduled in April. "I am missing playing in the current Ashes series but could not help as my body doesn't allow me to
play much cricket. I am not someone who would say I am not missing playing in Ashes, I do miss I know I still have four years of cricket left in me, I desperately want to play but could not help. After retirement from Test cricket I was expected to play in ODI and T20 but I am forced to retire from all forms of International cricket as my body doesn't allow me to play much. I want to be playing for Lancashire and Chennai but I don't think every thing is working as per plan. I have not yet sure
playing in the IPL-4 but it is the best domestic tournament in the world and I don't want to miss it, " said Flintoff.

Best Innings in last nine world cup
http://www.mid-day.com/
The International Cricket Council (ICC) today named world's leading lubricant company Castrol as its official performance partner for the next five years. ICC has entered into an agreement, which awards Castrol a worldwide rights package from 2010 to 2015 and it will include the 2011 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The partnership will also extend to other ICC events, including the 2015 World Cup.
The batsman and bowlers are rated in cricket on the runs they score and the wickets they grab but it is rarely seen that the match winners garbs the attention when it comes to over all performance. The ICC along with castrol in the upcoming ODI World Cup will be displaying the names of the players who bats and bowls at a crunch situation and plays the initiative role of guiding the team to victory.
Cricket expert Ravi Shastri, ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat and Ace cricket commentator Harsha had a debate on whose innings would they rate as the best one of the nine World Cup played so far.
The debate ended rating Adam Gilchrist 2007 World Cup final innings vs Sri Lanka where he scored 149 of just 104 balls among the best.

Peter Siddle Hat Trick Hat-Trick 2010/11 Ashes Series - Australia v England - Cricket
Peter Siddle claims a brilliant hat-trick hat trick in a fantastic spell of bowling versus England at the Gabba in Brisbane during the first test of the 2010-2011 Ashes series in Australia. Siddle, who took two wickets in the second session, had opener Alastair Cook caught at slip for 67 before bowling Matt Prior first ball and trapping Stuart Broad lbw in an amazing burst. There was momentary confusion over the Broad dismissal when the all-rounder referred the decision to the third umpire. But umpire Alam Dar's original decision was justifed and Broad was soon on his way.

Manny Ramirez Plays Cricket
Baseball Slugger Manny Ramirez Turns Cricket Batsman
In Support of DIRECTVs CricketTicket™ Service;
Hits Five of Eight Pitches in Cricket Debut
DIRECTV to Deliver All International Cricket Council (ICC) and Indian Premier League (IPL) Cricket Events Exclusively in the U.S Through 2011
GILBERT, Ariz., March 18, 2009 Baseball superstar Manny Ramirez has faced baseballs toughest pitchers, but today he encountered a challenge of a different kind at Nichols Park in Gilbert, Ariz., home to the Arizona Cricket Club. Ramirez was swinging at googlies and grubbers instead of split-finger fast balls in his debut as a cricket batsman to promote DIRECTVs exclusive CricketTicket™ Service. The great slugger hit five of eight pitches from the bowler, including a rocket shot that dispersed a crowd standing behind the bowler.
I have faced some tough pitchers before, but we dont have to ever swing at a bouncing ball that is rising as it passes us, said Ramirez, who was coached at the event by Australian cricketer Shaun Marsh. Shaun is a great hitter and he gave me some great pointers. I hadnt watched much cricket in the past, but the game is a lot like baseball. Shaun said I definitely have a future in the game.
Marsh, just 25, is one of the finest young batsmen in Australia and has played for such fabled clubs as Kings XI Punjab and Western Australia. An Australia A representative, Marsh made his first-class debut in 2000-01, and was also part of the Australia Under-19 squad that won the World Cup in 2002.
I am honored to be the one player in the entire world of cricket selected to give Manny some pointers today, said Marsh. I thoroughly enjoyed coming to the United States and being able to spend some time sharing my passion for the sport with someone who is just as passionate about his sport as Manny is. Maybe he can return the favor next Spring.
DIRECTV, Inc., the nations leading satellite TV service provider, and Willow TV, Inc., the Internets largest portal for cricket streaming video, have entered into multi-year agreements that give DIRECTV broadcast rights for International Cricket Council (ICC) tournaments, Indian Premier League (IPL) tournaments, Champions League Twenty20, Australian cricket, South African cricket, New Zealand cricket. These rights also include events such as the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 in England, the 2009/10 IPL tournaments, the 2009 India tour of New Zealand and the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
As Manny Ramirez, who tried his hand at cricket for the first time today can attest, being an all-star hitter in baseball does not automatically mean that you are going to be an outstanding batsman in cricket, said John de Armas, vice president, WorldDirect, Inc. Perhaps if he watches some of the biggest cricket events from around the world on DIRECTVs CricketTicket™ this year, his skills as a batsman will improve.
Since February 11, ICC and IPL cricket tours have been available to U.S. audiences, exclusively on DIRECTVs CricketTicket™ 2009 package. CricketTicket is part of DIRECTVs International programming platform and is available for $299.99 for the full season, or the IPL & ICC World T20 package can be purchased for $199.99.
Individual matches can also be purchased, á la carte pricing varies depending on the specific game. WorldDirect™ customers must first subscribe to DIRECTV BASIC ($9.99/mo) or PREFFERED CHOICE ($32.99/mo) and one of the international programming packages or any
DIRECTV base programming package ($29.99/mo or above). CricketTicket is the first-ever, year-long subscription TV package for international cricket. Customers can receive more information on the package by calling 1-800-378-4179 or visit www.cricketticket.com. New Zealand in Bangladesh ODI Series - 5th ODI
Bangladesh v New Zealand
Cricket Bangladesh vs NZ 5th ODI Oct 17 2010 Highlights new zealand wickets second session post
Bangladesh won by 3 runs
ODI no. 3058 | 2010/11 season
Played at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur
17 October 2010 (50-over match)
The Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium may have been operating at a fraction of its full capacity due to World Cup renovations, but another nail-biting victory to Bangladesh in the final ODI against New Zealand sparked rapturous celebrations in the Mirpur crowd as the home team stormed to a 4-0 whitewash. Bangladesh had been bowled out for just 174 by a spirited New Zealand attack that showed plenty of fire in the first half of the dead rubber, but a catastrophic top-order collapse ensured that not even a trademark fightback from the lower-order could restore some pride to an outfit that was thoroughly outplayed throughout the series.
The rot began with Brendon McCullum's wicket, when he top-edged a Rubel Hossain delivery that was far too wide to pull in the second over before Jesse Ryder capped his torrid tour, playing all around one that kept low in Rubel's next over. BJ Watling was then run out after Ross Taylor called for an ill-advised second run. When Kane Williamson and Taylor were undone by two terrific deliveries in consecutive overs, it left New Zealand reeling at 20 for 5. The visitors seemed headed towards their most humiliating defeat of the disheartening tour. Bangladesh were on the attack, and nothing short of a gutsy lower-order fightback could prevent the hosts from inflicting an embarrassing defeat.
New Zealand still required 69 to win with four wickets remaining when Vettori perished and Nathan McCullum's dismissal soon after made things even tougher. Kyle Mills provided support for Elliott in a 26-run stand, but when Elliott departed for a determined 59 with 30 runs still to get, the game swung once again in Bangladesh's favour.
Mills wasn't about to give up without a fight however, as he set about shepherding the sole remaining tailender, Hamish Bennett, while slamming the Bangladesh bowlers to all parts during the batting Powerplay. He crashed boundaries down the ground and over cover in the final overs. When eight runs were required from the last over with Mills on strike, the match was poised for a thoroughly gripping finale.
Rubel's first delivery of the final over was a full toss on the pads and Mills swung it around to the fine-leg boundary to make it four needed off five. The match had ebbed and flowed throughout the chase and it seemed that New Zealand were once again on top with Mills having to hit just one more boundary with the field restrictions in play. Rubel made sure he had the last word however, following up the errant first ball with two terrific yorkers, the second of which took out Mills' leg stump, sparking a thunderous ovation from the crowd.
The match had been set up by an excellent bowling performance from the New Zealand attack, who dismissed the hosts for 174 in 44.2 overs. New Zealand made early breakthroughs through Kyle Mills and Andy McKay before choking the runs in the middle period to trigger a lower-order collapse that left Bangladesh defending a meagre total.
Daniel Vettori was at his miserly best through the middle overs, giving away just 32 runs and claiming three wickets. His double-strike in consecutive overs to get rid of Raqibul Hasan and Imrul Kayes put the hosts firmly on the back foot at 77 for 4, before Shakib and Mushfiqur Rahim came together in a 55-run stand that rescued the Bangladesh innings from an embarrassing collapse.
Allrounder Elliott dismissed both batsmen in quick succession however, and combined well with fast bowler Hamish Bennett, playing his second game, to put together a parsimonious six-over patch where just five runs were scored for the loss of one wicket. Elliott's short spell summed up New Zealand's tight bowling performance during the middle period - his four overs costing just seven runs and yielding two wickets.
The Bangladesh lower-order failed to offer any sort of resistance, succumbing meekly to some intelligent bowling from the tourists and losing their last six wickets for just 42 runs. The modest total proved to be enough for the hosts however, who completed a whitewash that will be talked about in Bangladesh for years to come.

Cricket Golf Yoga: How To Make Right Decisions Quickly
There is a misunderstanding that yoga is simply 'sitting in a cave meditating.' Yoga could be anything. Cricket and Golf are forms of Yoga. Yoga is concentration where you transcend the mind. The mind is slow. You have to stop the mind, so you can be your real self. Your decision making is important and you must make the right decisions very quickly.
Cricket is a yoga mind training. In golf also, you must concentrate. You can apply yogic techniques to athletics. You can apply the technique of what concentration is, how to exclude your ego, exclude your mind, exclude your self, and then be goal oriented, completely. It's a winner's consciousness. What

Trial and Error:
Q: I can't pump.
A: Master the handglide(table) freeze. That's how you get more balance and more balance = better execution.
Q: How do you pump correctly?
A: Like in the video, I said to slightly extend your arm and push AGAINST the floor. Use your offhand to keep balance and help push off too.
Tips: Keep rotating your hand as you cricket towards your direction that you're going. (for CCW, turn your left hand). Swing your hips up to help pumping.

New Zealand in Bangladesh ODI Series - 1st ODI
Bangladesh v New Zealand
Bangladesh won by 9 runs (D/L method)
* ODI no. 3051 | 2010/11 season
* Played at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur
* 5 October 2010 (50-over match)
Bangladesh rode on an outstanding all-round performance from Shakib Al Hasan to beat New Zealand by nine runs in Mirpur, making Daniel Vettori's pre-match comments about his ability seem almost clairvoyant.
Shakib was scintillating with the bat in the latter part of Bangladesh's innings, unleashing a range of shots in the batting Powerplay to lift Bangladesh to a competitive 229. He then tormented the visitors with the ball, scalping four invaluable wickets including a double-strike in the 15th over to remove the rampant Brendon McCullum and Grant Elliott. He then returned to bowl a brilliant penultimate over in the rain-curtailed run chase, giving away just three runs and claiming the wicket of Nathan McCullum to give his side an unexpected 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
Bangladesh's hopes of defending the smallish total suffered a huge dent when they lost their captain and strike bowler, Mashrafe Mortaza, to a sprained ankle after bowling just one over. The blow left the inexperienced Nazmul Hossain and the hosts' spinners to step up considerably, and vice-captain Shakib to take over the familiar captain's role for the rest of the match.
Brendon McCullum's devastating form at the top of the order exacerbated the problem for Bangladesh as he set about blasting the attack to all corners for 61 off 45 deliveries. He plundered boundaries at will, cutting and pulling short balls ferociously as well as slamming the fuller deliveries over cover and down the ground. Jesse Ryder too got in on the action, hitting three boundaries in his innings of 21, before chipping Shakib to short midwicket with the score on 53 in the seventh over.
Brendon McCullum used his feet against all the bowlers, with a particularly majestic straight strike off Naeem Islam in the eleventh over standing out. His fancy footwork, however, ultimately led to his undoing when he danced passed a dipping delivery from Shakib. Elliot followed two balls later to leave the visitors wobbling at 84 for 4 before the rain that had threatened through the day became heavy enough for the umpires to call for the covers.
When play resumed, New Zealand were left chasing 210 from 37 overs: a target Ross Taylor and Daniel Vettori set about hauling in systematically. Vettori was adjudged out after pulling a chest-high full toss straight to deep square leg, though the third umpire ruled it as a no-ball after the batsman asked for a referral. That was the second controversial umpiring incident of the day, following a stumping that should have been given during the Bangladesh innings, when Junaid Siddique survived after being caught out of his crease.
Vettori did not last long however, top-edging a sweep to short fine leg for 24. Shanan Stewart and Ross Taylor followed soon after, leaving the visitors in deep waters. Kyle Mills and Nathan McCullum kept trying, but were no match for a Shakib special in the penultimate over. Nazmul then successfully defended 17 in the last over to spark off scenes of jubilation in the stands.
Earlier, New Zealand's slow bowlers strangled Bangladesh after a solid start. Vettori was at his miserly best, finishing with 2 for 29 from his ten overs, while Nathan McCullum and Ryder also made inroads into the Bangladesh line-up.
Opener Imrul Kayes fell to Kyle Mills after a 34-run stand for the first wicket, but Shahriar Nafees played intelligently for his 35, mixing firm defense with calculated aggression, before Vettori's introduction made an immediate impact.
He removed Nafees with a quick yorker in his second over, as Bangladesh began to feel the pinch. Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, with only Shakib managing to come to grips with the slowish surface. He began smartly against the seamers in the middle overs before exploding in the 45th, pulling Tim Southee for consecutive boundaries and then slamming Andy McKay down the ground in the following over to bring up his half-century. An inventive scoop and a crash through the covers off Mills raised hopes of 240, before a slower ball ended his stay. A couple of lusty blows from Mortaza lifted the score to 229, a score which ultimately proved sufficient.
